Read a recent article in a Chiropractic magazine where Bob Harper the trainer from NBC's The Biggest Loser talked about how family activities have a great impact on how we view health and wellness as adults.
I think he is right on the money. Often the activity level of parents, or the lack there of, is perpetuated into the rising generation. What the parents eat and do in their spare time is past on to their kids as the "social norm" and becomes ingrained into their young developing mind.
Flash forward 15-20 years and unless there was great effort to change this "norm", the kids are now adults with the same nutritional and exercise habits as their parents good or bad.
Being healthy is a daily battle won with the choices we make on what we put in our bodies and how much energy we use during the day.
One of the best things we can do for our families, where health is concerned, is get them out of the house and doing something together. Don't get me wrong spending time together as a family inside is important too, but doing active things with your kids gets both you and them out of the house and burning calories. Weither it is playing sports, tag, bike riding, surfing, swimming, walking, running, whatever as long as you are doing it together regularly it will keep you and your kids healthy, strong and close for life. And it can be alot of fun!
So keep health in the family! Get out and exercise with your kids!
